    Return on Investment

This is probably the most important calculator you'll come across when you are researching the benefits of energy savings. Quadrix Energy is the only site in the world to offer this type of calculator.
    Energy Savings ROI Calculator

    Usage
    1. Enter an actual meter reading from about 1 year ago. (Available on your power account)
    2. Enter another recent actual meter reading. (Available on your power account)
    3. Enter the number of weeks difference in readings.
    4. Enter the number of weeks that the home wasn't occupied during the period. (Holidays etc)
    5. Referring to your latest energy bill, enter the cost per unit of energy supplied.
    6. Enter the GST tax rate. Important since you pay tax on energy used but there is no tax on the sun's energy.
    7. Enter the projected inflation rate. Note: the NZ Government tries to maintain inflation at about 3% per year.
    8. Enter the projected increase in energy costs. This is believed to be in the order of 3% to 5% per year.
    9. Choose the type of energy savings product you are buying.
    10. Enter the quoted cost of your energy savings system, including installation.
    11. Finally, enter an interest rate that you might get if you invested the equivalent cost today for 20 years. For a medium risk investment you might expect a 7 to 8 percent return on you money.
    12. We have assumed an average personal income tax rate of $0.25 cents per whole dollar on an interest bearing investment. It may be different for you.
