    Incandescent Lights
The 'Standard' light globe produces a yellowish coloured light from a clear or pearl (frosted) globe with wattage ratings ranging from 15 up to 200 Watts There are also several different physical sizes of globe on the market, some designed to provide the visual effect of the candle.

    Advantages
    • Cheap to buy
    • Readily available
    • Most light fixtures and fittings are designed to accept this type of globe
    Disadvantages
    • Consume relatively large amounts of power.
    • They are only about 5% efficient at producing light (and 95% efficient at producing heat). EG. A 60 Watt globe produces about 57 Watts of heat
    • Standard globes usually only have a life of around 800 hours, although there are some available which claim to last for around 2500 hours.
