To help gather as much light as possible, parabolic reflectors are used by manufacturers to direct more light into the collectors. This is particularly important in colder environments where lighting conditions are problematic. The more light that can be directed onto the collectors, the better the unit will perform.
The parabolic concentrating reflector is made from mirror finish grade 316 stainless steel. This highly polished surface, although exposed to the weather, retains its shine for many years.
As with all products exposed to the elements, some deterioration is to be expected. A good maintenance program should include a regular inspection of these easily removed panels.
They should be cleaned as often as necessary and certainly at least once in every 5 years to boost the overall performance of the solar heater to near new condition.
